Because the voice is uniquely individual, my approach to each student is strictly based on their needs as a vocalist. I listen to each student and develop a program for development based on the needs I hear as well as the desires of the student.
Of course, good technique is universal and there are some exercised I use with all of my vocalists to develop good habits.

I have been a music teacher and private lesson instructor for the past 20 years. I have a bachelor of science degree in Music Education and hold a teaching certificate for all-level Music Education. In my private studio I have taught students from 3-70 and have enjoyed them all! In addition to teaching music I also serve as the Music Minister for my church. Students coming to me can expect a tremendous amount of experience as well as a committed, honest and caring teacher.

For beginning piano students at the pre-reading level (ages 3-6ish) I like to use the Faber "My First Piano Adventure" series. I love that this series enforces solid technique in a fun, child-friendly way.
For older beginners and players with some piano I like the Alfred series, supplemented, of course, with songs/styles of music that interest the student.
Guitar: I've found that guitar method books are nearly as diverse as the guitarists that play them! That being said, I typically start with the Essential Elements for guitar for a solid introduction to music reading and a touch of theory.
Depending on the style of play the guitarist is interested in I move on from there. Mel Bays Classical method is always a solid choice as is the Christopher Parkening Guitar method. I also have a few tab oriented books and some rock/blues oriented books.
For clarinet and oboe students I like to compliment what their band/orchestra director is using when possible. I also love the Klose method for clarinet. The Rubank is also a tried and true book I use. I've had a lot of success with these books.
Of course the best method books are for naught without adequate practice time! When theory and technique work get too dry it's always fun to throw in some fun selections to compliment the "work."
Voice students are a bit different in that I don't use a specific method to instruct. I have many books that I draw from when teaching voice due to the unique nature of the individual. Depending on the style of music, from classical to jazz/pop, I have music that will teach proper breath support, vowel placement and tone.

I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with Lisa. She pushes me and encourages me to get out of my comfort zone and explains things in ways that I can understand and apply them. I am learning a lot and can already see improvement in my singing!
Mrs. Lisa was absolutely a joy to work with. My granddaughter was visiting for a few days when she mentioned she would like guitar lessons. A few calls later we had lessons set up with Mrs. Lisa. Michelle was so excited when she finished her first lesson and said, "Mrs. Lisa is just like my Aunt Jenn.. She is sweet, kind, she encouraged me and made me feel like I could learn to play my guitar."
Thank you Mrs. Lisa...I believe you may have "hooked" her.
Encouraging to an elderly person who never sings solo but wants to learn to sing better. . . . to develop better habits and stretch the range.
Lisa makes learning fun and allows my son to branch out into songs he's interested in. She lets him lead, and yet guides/teaches him allong the journey.
Great teacher! Wish she was close by😕
Lisa is very dedicated and makes class fun!
Delightful, very helpful and very knowledgeable!!!
Both of my son's ages are 8 & 22 years, love Lisa. She's the real deal. Thanks Lisa.
My son had an awesome time with Lisa. She makes learning fun!
Lisa is so nice and friendly my daughter definitely wants to continue piano lessons
Very thorough, interesting and knowledgeable with her music lesson, she knows how to ignite a child's love for music. We're happy to find her. :)

Very enthusiastic and caring!
Great teacher! Patient and fun.
Wonderful and knowledgeable voice teacher.
Such a great teacher! very positive and encouraging and is always smiling! I have learned a lot from her and recommend her to anyone.
Read the other reviews on the site & checked out the other instructors in the area. I know after both of my grand darlings started taking lessons with Miss Lisa, the best decision was made! The youngest one absolutely loves her & n asked for more lessons. The other one is a apprehensive on going, but Lisa has handled her with kid gloves & helped her work through her difficulties and building the confidence she needs.+ Read More
Our daughter has made amazing progress with Lisa's instruction. Lisa is easy to work with and really connects with her students. She makes learning so much fun too!
Our daughter is taking Oboe and Piano lessons with Lisa. Lisa has taught her more than she has learned from anyone else (including her instructors at school), she is always encouraging our daughter to reach a little higher than her current level, and interested in the music she wants to learn to play instead of just the lesson book. As a parent that knows very little about music, Lisa has always gone out of her way to help us with any questions we have about buying instruments or just in general.+ Read More

Good teacher..all ok.. Mason
Great teacher. So patient. Really worked well with my daughter who is very shy and introverted. I recommend her highly.
Lisa is phenomenal with my daughter. Anna is a multi instrument child and in high school band. Lisa is always there for her to help her not only with her singing lessons, but piano, saxophone, flute...whatever Anna needs Lisa is there to assist. Lisa knows how to teach without being pushy or over bearing and she understands the kids at their age levels. As Anna gets older I see how Lisa's style adapts. Her strategies are sound and she's a delight to work with.+ Read More

Lisa is a wonderful teacher! She is so patient and explains everything so well! I would highly recommend her to young and old! Louise Bush
Ms Lisa has taught both of my girls voice, piano & guitar over the last year or two. My girls always enjoy their lessons and they like the relaxed home environment. Give her a try and you won't go back to a music school or other instructor.
My daughter gained confidence and better vocal sound with Lisa's help!
My first lesson was very informative. I learned how to tune the guitar, 2 chords, and played a song all in 30 min. I now have confidence that I can learn to play the guitar.
Thank you so much.
Lisa is very patient and encouraging. My daughter has developed in a short amount of time. Great teacher!
Lisa is a very patient and kind teacher. She is also very qualified with music education and experience. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to take lessons.
Recommendation for Lisa
Lisa is an excellent teacher and musician. She's perfect for an old guy like me in his 60's that has had no lessons in decades! She is supportive and encouraging, yet critical and instructive when needed. She loves her work and it shows through her sweet spirit. I'm lucky to have found her.
Sets student instantly at ease
Lisa has a warm friendliness that allows one to be instantly at ease. She is gracious, helpful, and a skilled musician. She has had a listening ear as I have explained vocal difficulties and has been quick to provide helpful solutions. :) She is a wonderful teacher!
Helped pull our more sound
She was a very good help at showing me how to relax and get more sound out when singing. Very patient, worked with my specific needs well.
Lisa has been phenomenal with my daughter. She is able to keep her engaged. She's very talented and has a great approach with her students.
Ms. Lisa is a great piano teacher. I have seen my daughter learn so much in the last year. I have been pleasantly surprised. She strives to make Lisa proud of her which says a lot to me about how much she likes her teacher.
I highly recommend Lisa.
Very kind talented teacher
We are so happy to have found Lisa! She's sweet, always prepared and really listens to Chloe and what she wants to do. She is very talented and Chloe can't wait to go back each week for her next lesson.
After over a year of struggling finding the right voice teacher, I think we finally have!
This product has great features
Ms. Lisa is just what we were looking for! She is sweet and really knows how to talk to my daughter. Stephanie loves her! We are very happy with her!

I have enjoyed my lessons with Mrs. Lisa from the very begining. Mrs. Lisa is very pleasant and knowledgeable. TakeLessons is a great place to learn music.
Upbeat, wonderful teacher - very good with young children. This teacher is very patient and kind and is a just great music teacher.
Lisa is exactly what my daughter needed, an instructor who provides positive and constructive feedback. My daughter has chosen to stop playing the clarinet. but when or if she chooses to play something else I hope it's one Lisa teaches. Lisa has done a great job in building up my daughter's confidence. We would highly recommend her.
Our whole family loves Lisa, who has just begun teaching our 6 year old piano. Lisa is a natural with children and she encourages lessons with her little ones to be playful, although she is guiding them through lessons so that they are learning all the while.+ Read More
Feedback on Lisa....
Lisa is exactly what my daughter needed, an instructor who provides positive and constructive feedback. My daughter had a pretty harsh Choir Teacher, and she wore her confidence level down. Lisa has done a great job in bringing that back up. We had to stop lessons for now due to end of school activities, but I would highly recommend her.
