I am a professional pianist and teacher formally trained at the American Conservatory of music with majors in piano and instrumental education. My career in teaching and performing spans over 50 years, and my experience is varied. I have taught in my home, online, and in colleges. As a performer, I have performed solo, with 17-piece big bands, orchestras, rock bands, jazz trios, and have accompanied choirs and dancers. Experience has shown me the importance of providing a fun and positive atmosphere of discovery. An environment without judgment or expectation is ideal for learning and performing. A strong believer in ear training, I integrate it into all areas of study to help my students become skilled and confident musicians. Studying and working with master musicians has enabled me to create engaging and effective strategies to give my students a working knowledge of traditional Harmony, contemporary jazz theory, and improvisation. As a retired Physical Therapist who has worked with patients of all ages and disabilities, I bring a unique perspective to teaching. Retirees, adults, and children welcome.
