Piano with Laurine Celeste F.

I’m a very knowledgeable & experienced musician who has been an active piano teacher for 14 years. Students range from beginner to advanced (so don’t apologize if you’re a beginner!) & study repertoire from Chopin to the Beatles to Ray Charles. One of the things I stress is being an expressive pianist. Given that it's technique which enables expression (yes, the latter is not possible without the former!), if the student needs it we take the time to lay a good, relaxed technical foundation. With such a foundation, one can play most any music that one has an interest in. To quote one of my students, “I have been taking piano lessons for 7 years, but it wasn't until I met Laurine that I learned how to properly play… Laurine has the wonderful ability to describe things in a unique manner so that you can see things from a different view and learn in interesting ways.” If needed, we also work on music reading skills. After all, the better you read, the more quickly you'll learn every piece. BTW... the better you read, the more easily you can also work on pieces on your own. I'm not trying to make myself dispensable(!), BUT... I'm really thrilled when a student is able to learn a piece on their own! To close... I also often run overtime on my lessons at no extra charge to the student. After all, I strongly feel that you are paying me, not for my time, but for me to teach you how to play the piano. There's a huge difference between these attitudes!
