Teaching piano lessons has always been an exciting adventure for me! From students who just need an introduction to music to advanced pianists, I have truly enjoyed the journey of teaching piano lessons. I began learning the piano the summer after I had taken flute lessons. My parents had bought me a miniature toy keyboard and there were Christmas carol books that went with it. So, I sat down in my room everyday one summer and taught myself basics of playing the piano. As my parents saw my interest increase in music, they bought me a bigger sized keyboard (not full size). My older sister had always desired to learn the piano and my parents put her in piano lessons first. The assignments she brought home were songs I would teach myself. As I got the hang of it, I began choosing different songs and playing by ear. During one church service, I played the offertory and didn't tell my parents how I was involved. My mom leaned over to my dad and asked, "When did she learn to play the piano?" and from that point on, I was placed in lessons. My primary focus is hymns! I have a big desire to teach pianists, who play in their church, how to play hymns in an exciting and worshipful way. I am completely open to teaching music theory (it's a very important part of playing music correctly), learning scales, learning chords, and also learning classical music. I look forward to trying this new adventure and meeting new people who love music as much as I do!
