Laurie M. teaches rock, blues, country, pop, bluegrass, and many other styles of music. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are available to students of any age. Some of her offerings are fretboard knowledge, music theory for the guitar, ear training, songwriting, and just about anything to do with the guitar, bass, or mandolin. Laurie customizes each lesson to match up with the learning style of the student and desired type of music. Her music lessons are interesting and informative, but also fun. Laurie has a true passion for the instrument and that enthusiasm helps the student maintain the desire to learn.

Inspired Music Teaching

Private lessons are given in my home studio. This is a place where students are inspired to learn and improve their musical skills. It includes the latest in sound and recording technology and allows the student and teacher to quickly access songs and written sheet music at no extra cost. Parents and family have a comfortable area to wait while the student takes their lesson in the music studio. Free Wi-Fi is also provided.

In short, "A no pressure, relaxed teaching environment." I came into it thinking it'd be a lot more structured, almost as if I were being tested from week to week simply because that is what my engineering-brain is used to :) Instead, I've come to enjoy the relaxed, no pressure approach - playing is fun, and so are the lessons. So, thanks for making my practice lessons compatible with my real end goal here - to play and just have fun with it. Progress is a little bit slow, but that's OK! John Sweet generous understanding compassionate, and full of life, is a very experienced musician who will get you in tuned and focused to learn! Miss Conduct

Laurie and her band, Miss Conduct, shared the stage with the likes of Bachman Turner Overdrive, Flock of Seagulls, Pat Travers, Sam Kinison, Marshall Tucker Band, Foghat, Blackfoot, Red Rider and Johnny Winter. While performing for a month in Stockholm, Sweden, Laurie wrote and recorded a song called "Stockholm Rocks" which was immediately published and heard on radio stations throughout Scandinavia. Laurie is a seasoned veteran of the live stage, recording studio, and loves sharing her talents through teaching. She has been a full time private instructor since 1999.
