As a vocalist, synth-player, composer, and producer, I use my knowledge and experience in technology based professions to explore the relationship between music and tech.
As a “synth-enthusiast” who uses analog synths in sound design , I have cultivated a vivid musical aesthetic under the moniker mini bear, with which I have written, produced, and released 2 EPs and 1 full length album. Illustrating a sound rich in 80s referenced romantic nostalgia, mini bear has garnered praise and recognition from respected media such as Grimy Goods, Impose Magazine and international indie press. I am currently an active performer in Los Angeles, and I have played at local venues such as The Echo, Resident, The Hi Hat, Bootleg Theatre, Moroccan Lounge, and The Satellite.
My role as a teacher has also grown over the span of 10+ years. As a Creative Trainer at the Apple store, I have taught customers computer skills and Pro-Apple software such as Logic Pro in both private one-on-one and workshop settings. In addition to teaching adults, I have taught music production and Ableton to children ages 10-15 at Girls Rock camp. I have been producing in Ableton Live for the past four years, and I have done consulting sessions to determine work efficiency. Content and teaching styles are customized based upon the learners skills and learning styles.
As a Logic Certified trainer, I taught Logic Pro in both one-on-one and workshop environments.
Lauren is a fantastic teacher, patient and thorough in her technique. I learned so much from taking lessons with her!
Lauren's expertise and creativity really shines through during the lessons!! It's the perfect mix of a thorough, methodical lesson but also fun and extremely engaging, with room for our individual visions and artistry to shine through on Ableton. I can't recommend her enough, She's the best out there!!!+ Read More
Lauren was informative and organized but best of all, she explained each step of the recording process in a way that was easy to follow and understand. She used concrete examples and had me practice them on my own Ableton session to reinforce my learning.
