    About Lauren B.

I have been singing since I was a child, participating in children's musicals and grade-school choirs, and since then my whole life has continued to be centered around music. I've been teaching private voice for 5 years, and it is something I'm very passionate about. I try to make my students feel as encouraged and productive as I can, while giving them the technical tools they need to become great singers. I began my education at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX as a vocal performance major. A couple years late I transferred to University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance to finish earning my degree. I received my Master's degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. My primary focus is making sure my students enjoying singing and expressing themselves through music. I'm an upbeat, positive teacher who knows how to help singers achieve their maximum, musical potential. *** Lesson Details *** My teaching style is relaxed and efficient. I aim to make my studio a place where students feel comfortable and free to be themselves. Lessons consist of alignment exercises, breathing techniques, warm-ups and vocalizes, and repertoire. I have song books for every level of singer, including classical art songs, operatic arias and musical theater pieces. I strive to give my students repertoire they enjoy to sing, but that also challenges them as an artist. My hope is that after a few months together, my students and I will have gotten to know each others personalities, and are able to collaborate well together. Students will have a better feeling for their voice along with its strengths and weaknesses. *** Studio Equipment *** Apartment living room w/ keyboard and music stand w/ seating for parents *** Specialties *** I am most comfortable teaching students to sing in the classical style, but I have a good amount of experience singing musical theater as well. For younger students, I assign mostly musical theater and Disney.
