Hi there! I’m a private tutor, arts educator, and life coach who has helped hundreds of students achieve their academic, creative, and professional goals. With over two decades of teaching experience, I offer students an innovative, motivating approach to learning that guides them to think for themselves, giving them the skills and confidence they need to excel in all subjects. My teaching philosophy emphasizes both the discipline required for learning something new and the importance of finding joy and excitement throughout the process. Growing up bilingual, I attended schools both in the US and in Japan, and I draw on my diverse educational background to hand-pick the best pedagogical methods that align with each student’s learning needs. For the creative types, I teach piano, singing, and acting. Many of my students have performed on/off Broadway, at Carnegie Hall, and on tv/film. I also teach English, Japanese, writing, math, and ACT/SAT prep, and executive functioning skills as a private tutor, in classrooms, and in corporate settings. My students have attended top private and public schools in the prestigious NYC school system, and most have been accepted into the universities of their choice, including Ivy League schools and elite international institutions. Students of all ages find my relaxation, mindfulness, and focus-building exercises to be extremely effective as they prepare for standardized tests, college admissions, board meetings, and beyond. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals! Laura has been a wonderful life coach!!!! I had a fear of trying new things, as I'm sure many of us do, but Laura taught me to overcome that anxiety by approaching things step by step. When you look at the whole it can seems scary, but if you break it down, all the sudden it's do-able! Thanks Laura!!!

Laura is one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever had. I look forward to our lessons and I have grown so much personally, intellectually, academically, and musically from our time together. She pushes me and motivates me to bring my best self to my own practice and is a knowledgeable mentor in multiple subject areas. She is clear and explicit in her instructions and always makes sure that she is setting me up for success. On a personal level, she is an incredibly brilliant, kind, and compassionate person and role model. It is so fun to work with her!

I've been working with Laura for just over 1 year and I wish I could give more than 5 stars! She is easily one of the most positive persons I've ever met, with a genuine interest to guide me in creating healthier life habits, and her bright energy feels like seeing a lifelong friend. I have ADHD and have had other coaches before, but Laura's approach, vocabulary, & ability to empathize was the first to resonate with me and my perception of what I want to achieve in life and who I want to be as a person. And the results speak for themselves, I feel different, better than I did a year ago. With her guidance; I've learned *my* way to maintain a consistent, fulfilling practice of my passions (never done that before) and have made regular, measurable progress; I no longer punish myself if/when I don't reach my daily or weekly goals (full disclosure, it happens sometimes), instead, I reassess the goal, remember that I'm human, and adjust; I now look at the future with a real, almost tangible vision of my potential and how to get there, which has always felt esoteric. With a history of chronic self-doubt, it's actually pleasantly shocking to look at a new skill or interest and feel confident that I can master it! I highly recommend her services to anyone looking to improve themselves and learn how to practice and *accept* real self-love.
