Acting is both the hardest and the easiest thing in the world-- it is both deeply personal, while at the same time requiring you to completely sacrifice and subjugate yourself to the greater good of bringing another character to full and complete life. There are many schools and styles of acting, but the truth is there really is only one way to act, and that is the one that works for you! And there's no better way to find that than to find the right coach, with the kind of experience and patience that meets your needs and gives you the tools to nail the audition, get the job, and seize the moments that matter. After 30 years performing in just about every theatrical space in Chicago (as well as many Film/TV/Commercial/Industrial gigs) it's time for me to help you find your voice, as well as avoid the pitfalls I wish I'd known about at the start. I hit the stage in the mid-1980s and have been a working actor ever since! My acting degree is from the Theatre School of DePaul University in Chicago, where I currently make my home as an Ensemble Member of A Red Orchid Theatre, where we've brought the best acting Chicago has to offer for 30 years. I started in-person teaching in 2019 but the pandemic interrupted that plan so I've been doing one-on-one training over Zoom and now I'm here and looking to reach people just like you. My goal is to make you feel more confident, emphasize the things you do well, and hone your technique to get you the job! I promise you I've seen it all, and I will leave you feeling encouraged and empowered. Every actor has their role to play, and my job is to help put you where your heart wants to go... or it's free! Lance was one of the first acting instructors to call me out, shake me out of auto pilot mode and give me great constructive criticism. The class was only for a short time but I felt he devoted great attention to each individual and met us where we were, which is not easy to do.
