Build your dexterity and versatility as a pianist in customized classes with a music educator of 10 years

In piano, we will begin with simple music designed to build strength and dexterity in your hands. We will begin learning to read music notes together, so don't worry if you never have before! However, I do recommend that young children are able to identify the alphabet and numbers 1-10 prior to starting piano. Reading is a plus! In lessons, I use the Piano Adventures series, starting at the primer level with very young students. I will typically use the Lesson, Performance, Technique & Artistry, & Theory books available at each level to give every student the most comprehensive music education while building their piano playing ability. These four books are commonly sold as a package on amazon.com for a discounted rate. In addition, I love to work with each student to meet his or her own personal goals. I am always happy to provide additional music from outside these core books! Some examples of things my students have requested over the years include Disney songs, video game music such as Minecraft & Super Smash Brothers, relgious music, and even traditional music! Thank you so much for taking the time to read a little bit about me! I cannot wait to meet you and get started!

    Experience

    Teacher, Music Specialist

    Aug, 2014 - Present

    Private School

I began teaching a rigorous curriculum of music education to over 600 students in this K-6 school. Many classes were those which incorporated self contained special needs students. In my time here, have created an after school choir as well as brought the entire school together for multiple concerts.

    Teacher, Music Specialist

    Aug, 2011 - Aug, 2014

    St. Daniel the Prophet School

I created a music education program for students in a Pre-K through 8th grade school, and started a well rounded, enriching after school music club program. This consisted of tiered choirs based on experience and voice types, as well as a Tone Chime Choir, and an advanced recorder playing group. I was responsible for over 700 children's musical education, and nearly a dozen concerts every year. I also engineered the return of the annual Talent Show, and began new traditions of inviting alumni instrumentalists back to play, having in-school recitals for students who took private lessons, and creating a Music Awards Ceremony for students involved in the after school programs.

    Voice & Flute Teacher

    Apr, 2008 - Nov, 2011

    UpBeat Music School

I taught lessons to students from many walks of life, including students who did not speak English, those with limited mental capabilities, and students who achieved many awards and recognition. In my time here, I doubled the amount of students taking voice lessons, and saw four go on to receive full or partial scholarships into various music schools. My students competed every year in the Illinois Music Association competition, and consistently placed in the top three of their respective divisions.
