Classical Guitar with Kirk H.

My name is Kirk Hanser, and I am a teacher, performer, and recording artist working out of the St. Louis (MO) area. After over 25 years in music education, I can honestly say that I enjoy my work now more than ever. While I have taught various courses in the classroom, my primary area of instruction has been in applied guitar. It is clear to me that every student has the ability to succeed, whether on a personal level, a professional level, or both. I work to redefine each student's role as a "student" - a term with baggage, and a passive, nebulous term at best - to that of a "learner". Becoming a learner - an active and exciting term - helps to define and further clarify their role in creating and owning their own future. I do not instruct with the vision that my students simply become other versions of myself; I recognize that students pass through me, but they are not me. It gives me great satisfaction to watch students’ growth as they continue to develop.
