Originating from San Francisco, clarinetist Kevin Tang earned a M.M. at the Manhattan School of Music, where he was a student of Mark Nuccio. Kevin earned a B.M. from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Luis Baez and was a recipient of the Phyllis C. Wattis Scholarship. Kevin attended the San Francisco School of the Arts High School, where he studied with Jerry Simas and Art Austin. During the 2008/2009 season, Kevin won the SFSOTA concerto competition and was also named Principal Clarinetist of the California Youth Symphony.
Kevin is an active freelance musician in the Bay Area. Kevin was formerly the Principal Clarinetist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Americas, and has performed with the One World Symphony, Astoria Symphony, Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Symphony Orchestra, LoftOpera, Phoenix Quartet, Tactus, New York Repertory Orchestra, Ohio Light Opera, San Francisco Wind Ensemble, Symphony Parnassus, Cazadero Symphony and Berkeley Symphony. During the summers of 2012 and 2013, Kevin was the Clarinet Instructor at Cazadero Music Camp. Kevin has attended the Hot Springs Music Festival and Miami Summer Music Festival, and has been a member of the Ohio Light Opera.
Kevin is also an active clarinet teacher. Kevin teaches through Discover Melody. Kevin maintains a private studio of students and has also taught through the Harmony Program, a nonprofit organization that brings intensive after-school music programs to communities with limited access to instrumental music education.

For two summers, I was the clarinet instructor at Cazadero Music Camp in California. I taught private lessons to middle and high school students and lead sectionals and masterclasses.
I lead sectionals and coached the clarinet section at Presidio Middle School.
Kevin was able to understand my problem right from the start and customize the first lesson to help me move forward.
