Develop your opera singing voice by learning with an opera singer

I am passionate about connecting students to their own unique voice through discovering the relationship between the body, the brain, vocal discipline, and personal expression. I work on creating a resonant and freely produced sound throughout all the registers. My goal is to promote healthy vocal technique while having full engagement in a song. I believe that singing is not only learning the right notes and words while delivering a lovely sound: singing is conveying your emotion, your engagement, and your character’s situation to the audience. Once your voice is lined up with great technique, your “own” true voice will begin to surface with an increased vocal range, resonance, and heightened flexibility between notes. You will explore who YOU are as a singer and discover what repertoire works best for you. I also emphasize working through the actor’s process, so she can fully prepare you for any audition or performance.

Hi, I'm Kelly! I'm a coloratura soprano who currently resides near New York City. With a strong emphasis on vocal technique, I teach voice in my private studio or at The County College of Morris, where I serve as an adjunct faculty member. Some of my previously staged operatic and musical theater roles include Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Angelina (Trial by Jury), Le rossignol (L'enfant et les sortileges), Soeur Gerald (Dialogues des Carmelites), The Shepherdess (Venus and Adonis), Christine in the New Jersey collegiate premier of The Phantom of the Opera, Lily (The Secret Garden), Cinderella (Into the Woods), Cosette (Les Miserables), and Cinderella (Cinderella). With an intense focus on character study, I've performed lecture recitals and partial roles of Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Blondchen (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail) and Musetta (La Boheme). I attended NYU, earning a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance receiving the Founder's Day Award and The Steinhardt School's Outstanding Achievement and Citizenship Award. Also, I hold a Master's Degree in Music with a specialty in Opera Performance from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where I started teaching voice lessons while earning my degree. I served as an artist for the International Vocal Arts Institute of NYC, working alongside Metropolitan Opera professionals. I have also performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, NJPAC, MPAC, Province Town Playhouse, The Frederick Loewe Theater, and Roxbury PAC. I serve as Music Director at Brundage Park Playhouse and have directed performances of South Pacific and Into The Woods. Current member of: -Pan-American Vocology Association (PAVA) -National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) I am passionate about connecting students to their own unique voice through discovering the relationship between the body, the brain, vocal discipline, and personal expression. Experience

    Professor of Voice

    Oct, 2018 - Present

    County College of Morris

As a voice faculty member, I work with students to maintain good vocal technique in a positive and encouraging way. I promote creative expression and instill confidence in each student. I emphasize a deep understanding of vocal technique to help each student find their unique voice and mode of vocal expression. I work with students from a variety of ages, majors, and levels of interest, and I love the challenge of finding creative ways to reach each of my students.

    Voice Teacher

    Sep, 2015 - May, 2017

    Rutgers University

While working on my Master's Degree at Rutgers, I was asked to teach voice lessons to majors and non-majors. It was my first time having a full studio and I loved it. Getting to work with students that were on the road to their "next big step" was an exciting experience and is why I focus so much on "now" goals and "future" goals in lessons.
