About Keegan M.

I have been teaching a wide variety of genres professionally for 10 years. I graduated The University of Central Florida with my BM in Jazz Studies. My teaching is unique because as a full time professional musician I also bring a "street smarts" approach to the "book smarts" type of lessons; you get the best of both worlds. I teach classical, jazz, funk, rock, pop, hip-hop, etc. styles. All of my lessons are rooted in classical piano technique, so you can learn how to properly and efficiently play the piano from technical approach. One of the first things we will do is set daily, weekly, and monthly goals for you! Students must learn how to read, but they will also learn how to play by ear. I also teach beginner-advanced classical and jazz music theory and composition for pianist and non-pianist. Let's get started!

AMAZING TEACHER!!! Inspirational musician and educator
I took 2 years of lessons with Keegan. In that time he guided and prepared me for a career as a self providing musician. Not only did he teach me anything I wanted to know and everything I needed to know about the piano, he connected me with local musicians and gave me opportunities to audition and sub on gigs.
I successfully auditioned for the Berklee College of Music, which he helped me prepare for. I can now say that everything I learned with Keegan was crucial for my survival and progress in this College.
Keegan doesn't only teach you how to play, but how to hear and how to practice and approach music with joy and humility.

Keegan has an absolutely impeccable undertanding of both piano and harmony itself. There was no concept he couldn't clearly and concisely breakdown for me in ways easy to understand, but I also gained a lot from the little observations he would make along the way. Technique suggestions would come with either anecdotes or real life experiences to support and provide context to his finely-honed teaching methods. Could not recommend more highly for someone who really wants get INTO piano (especially jazz/classical)
