About Kathryn M.

I have been working with kids and teens in music since 2015. I have been a counselor at a music camp in Sunnyvale with kids ages 5-18 for two years, 2019 and 2020, helping them learn guitar, drums, bass, and vocals, learn songs of their choice, and how to play in a band setting with three or four other people. I am really passionate about music and love to share that excitement with young people and help them get started on their music journey! I started out on a toy keyboard as a child, teaching myself things, and now I am a professional musician on a label based in San Francisco. I specialize in song writing, and work in experimental electronic, with electric guitar being one of my main instruments, as well as analog synthesizers and my own vocals. Over the years I have played with bands, collaborated, recorded and put out music. I have a good sense of the music industry and know what it is like to be signed.

I helped run week long music camps in summer 2019 and 2020 with kids ages 5-18. We focused on learning how to play songs that the campers chose in band groups, exploring group work in music, learning basics of drums, keys, guitar, bass and rhythm. By the end of the week campers are able to play a live show/performance or have a special project created, such as a music video or original composition.
