I am a professional flutist based in Central Illinois. I have a bachelor's and a master's degree in flute performance and I'm in the final stages of a doctoral degree in flute performance and pedagogy from the University of Illinois. I have taught students of all ages and levels since I graduated from high school in 2004. As a professional performer I frequently travel throughout the United States. I am the second flutist of the Duluth Symphony and I also perform frequently with the Des Moines (IA) and Peoria (IL) Symphonies, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Heartland Festival Orchestra (IL). An active soloist, I was the first prize winner of the 2016 Mid-South and 2015 Flute Society of Washington Young Artist competitions, a two-time semifinalist of the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, and the second prize winner of the 2014 National Flute Association Orchestral Audition Competition. I have performed internationally in England, Italy and France as well as in New York, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, and Illinois. I teach flute students in my home in Illinois, but I also have two years of experience teaching online. My students have held high chairs in Illinois and Indiana honor bands, and graduates of my studio have been accepted as music majors to schools like Ball State University, the University of Illinois and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. I love helping students become the best musicians they can be while cultivating their love of the flute and flute music. I approach each lesson with energy, openness and a sense of humor and my goal is to make every lesson engaging while providing honest and helpful feedback. I look forward to meeting you and helping you improve your skills as a flutist and a musician!
