I am a seasoned pianist with an ecclectic background of experiences! Privately, I have taught piano and voice lessons since 2012. I hold a Master of Music degree from Illinois State University, where I also taught group piano to both music majors and elective students. My professional emphasis was in collaborative work, giving me a unique perspective to teach chamber music, duo and trio playing, and coach pianists and vocalists to work WITH each other as partners! I currently teach elementary music and accompany my community's high school choirs during the day. Previously to being a professional educator, I was the staff accompanist for Eureka College and freelanced for other groups. Some of these included Illinois Central College's and Illinois State University's voice students, local opera co-ops, and various area high schools. I believe in a wholistic approach to musicianship. Students must have an understanding of theory to be competent at their instrument. There is more to learning an instrument than "just playing!" With that in mind, lessons are always student-driven and require students to help guide their own journey. If popular music is your jam, we will incorporate more of that than Bach and Mozart! If you aspire to major in music while at college, we will prepare you for all of the entrance exams and juries you will experience.
