My Path For the last 10 years I have been working in the Chicago area as a professional musician and music teacher. After moving from my hometown of Boulder CO in 2010, I studied music at Columbia College Chicago and graduated in 2015, which lead me to pursue many different musical opportunities. Including playing at just about every venue in the Chicago area, teaching at several music schools and in home lesson companies, playing alongside some of Chicago’s greatest musicians and some legendary players, and recording at several of the most highly trafficked music studios in the city. I have produced an recorded my own solo music as a singer- songwriter and multi instrumentalist, cut my teeth and learned to hustle playing with Chicago street bands on Michigan avenue, worked my way up the ladder in the jobbing musician scene and learned the ins and outs of the local scene in several different genres. I have been in too many start up rock bands to count, and learned what makes bands succeed or fail. I have made many mistakes and blunders along the way that made me stronger, as well as had many great opportunities that were a dream to live out. I currently work as a freelance drummer, music teacher and sound healer, as well as writing and playing and touring in a select few original bands. My Teaching Philosophy I have always believed that anyone who is willing to learn can learn music. In my experience, natural talent means very little in the long term, and what matters most is a desire to learn and to connect to one’s own path of inspiration. As music teacher I see my role as nourishing interests and planting seeds that will lead a student to their own path of inspiration, and to be prepared to pursue what they want to pursue in music, once the path is illuminated. Not everyone will be inspired by the same things, and not everyone will be inspired at the same time. for that reason I feel that a focus on a strong musical foundation offers the best chance at success.
