Master of Music Orchestral Instruments - Viola
- 3 Repeated Students
Learn violin from a Juilliard graduate, from beginner to advanced level
As a graduate of The Juilliard School, I have extensive experience performing as a classical violinist and violist in solo, chamber, and orchestral music. I have been playing the violin since the age of 5 and have participated recently in many well known music programs such as the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, the Music Academy of the West, New York String Orchestra Seminar, and Aspen Music Festival. I have experience teaching in violin sections in orchestra and group classes through the Tufts Community Music Program. I grew up learning through the Suzuki method, so I encourage learning by ear and emphasize the importance of efficient and organized practice. In a lesson with me, I would focus on learning classical violin technique in order to produce the best sound, while allowing the student to pick their repertoire based on their musical preferences, however always encouraging exploration of the classical genre!

About Julia M.

(17)
Hello, my name is Julia! I have a masters in Viola Performance from The Juilliard School, am the viola Academist with the Kammerakademie Potsdam, and a former violist of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. I teach both viola and violin, from beginner to advanced levels. I am also available for practice help sessions or one time coachings. I grew up learning through the Suzuki method, so I teach with an emphasis on developing a good ear as well as good instrumental technique. The most important thing I want my students to develop is a love for music in all its diverse forms and the instrumental technique that will allow them to involve themselves in that musical world!

She quickly identified what was causing tension in my left hand and gave excellent advice on musical phrasing and planning my practice. I’m looking forward to continuing lessons with her.
