I’m Juan F.. I’m a voice teacher from Buenos Aires, living and working in the DMV area. I’ve been studying and performing music for over 20 years. I’m a guitarist, singer and voice teacher specialized in a voice method that is called Functional Voice Method, also known as Rabine Method in honor of it’s creator Maestro Eugene Rabine. Voice health is essential and the cornerstone of this pedagogy. Understanding our physiology and anatomy and how to reach a balance in wich the vocal cords can work with no extra stress or tension. In a normal lesson we usually start with a couple of simple vowel exercises. This gives us an opportunity to see how our instrument (our voice) is at that moment. From that observation we follow with some exercises applied to a more specific aspect of the voice. Sometimes we will focus on breath control, sometimes in posture, sometimes in pitch, sometimes in lower or higher notes. By the end of the lesson we can sing more complex exercises or we can go straight to repertoire. This is the moment to apply the ideas of the lesson to our music! My teaching style: - Having fun while training is extremely important to me. All learning came from a space of enthusiasm and joy. Especially in arts and music. - Communication is essential. There should be a very open and honest dialog between teacher and student. I encourage my students to ask, propose and work together. - Because posture, movement and breathe have such a mutual influence; we usually need some work or exercise regarding the body (movements involving legs, arms, walking, jumping and a large etcetera). - I prefer to work with the music you want to sing and improve but from time to time I like to propose songs and ideas for your singing. About my method: We put our focus in health. Aesthetics or "beauty" of the voice is subjective. In this method we favor the voice health. The ability to sing without fatigue. The confidence that we can trust in our instrument. “The acoustical result of a healthy sound is a beautiful sound. And we will agree in any culture that it’s beautiful because it’s an instint aesthetic” (from the film “A journey into the universe of voice”) It comprehends 4 parts: 1) theory about the functional system (how the instrument works) 2) a theory about the sensomotorial system (how one person learns a sensomotorial activity) based on those 2 theories a ther 3) specific Pedagogy 4) specific Didactic
About Juan F.

I’m a singer, guitarist and voice teacher with +16 years of experience. I specialize in a voice method that is called "Functional Voice Method" This is a pedagogy that can help you achieve a solid healthy voice technique. Unveiling and uncovering your real voice. This work comprehends a deep understanding of breathing or breath support, and its relationships with posture and movement. For that reason the vocal exercises are often matched with certain movements and guidelines. Each lesson will include a warm-up, vocal exercises and work with repertoire. I can always suggest rep that I may consider useful but I prefer to help you work the music you want to sing. From classical to jazz, rock, pop, MT. You can check my website for more info and of course you can contact me if you have questions.

Juan is an excellent voice teacher who cares about your voice and helps you to improve the quality of your voice. He tailored each lesson based on your needs and struggles. I’ve had two lessons with him so far, and I’ve learned so much about breathing, postures, and movements. Highly recommend him.

I have been a student of Juan Manuel for five years. He is an excellent teacher, I took face-to-face and currently virtual classes. He provides a space where to learn, always listening to the needs that each one goes through in different stages. Supported by the rabine method, it guides you towards a better performance when singing, with clear guidelines that allow you to organize and optimize your voice.
