I began studying the piano in my early high school years and instantly fell in love with what I consider the ultimate musical instrument. The more I studied the piano, the more I wanted to learn how music is conceived and put together. Between the act of sitting down at a piano bench to let my fingers bleed music and learning why the music is made the way it is through preliminary studies in music theory, I discovered my life passion, prompting me to study music theory and composition and piano performance at The College of Idaho between 2011 and 2015. After that, with prompting from peers whom I had tutored and who subsequently informed me of my innate teaching abilities, I established myself as a private piano teacher in Boise, Idaho, where I also composed original operas for local opera companies and served as music director for a local theatre company as well. Since moving to Portland in Fall, 2019, I've itched to expand my teaching horizons with new students and opportunities, and I can't wait to start making music with you!

    Experience

    Composer

    Nov, 2014 - Jun, 2015

    Opera Elect

Opera Elect is a wonderful opera company located in Boise, Idaho. They were establishing themselves throughout 2014 and 2015, and I was approached to compose the music for their first ever operetta, which was performed throughout the Spring in 2015.

    Music Director

    Mar, 2018 - May, 2018

    Homegrown Theatre

The local-to-Boise theatre company Homegrown asked me to direct the music for the ingeniously written play Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play, by Anne Washburn. No official recordings of the music exist, and since only a couple of the performers were able to read sheet music, I was tasked with teaching the cast the entirety of the music for the play. It was an amazing experience that challenged my ability to learn music quickly so I could teach it effectively.

    Instructor

    Sep, 2015 - Aug, 2017

Community Tae Kwon Do - Boise, Idaho

Though unrelated to music in particular, my time volunteering as a Tae Kwon Do instructor is notable for the intensity with which I was able to deepen my teaching knowledge and abilities, as each of my bi-weekly classes consisted of up to twenty students between the ages of 7 and 70 from diverse ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and skill levels.

    Private Teacher

    Jun, 2015 - Mar, 2018

    Organization N/A

I had as few as three and many as six piano students at a time between June of 2015 and March of 2018. At that time, I happened to be teaching exclusively adults between the ages of 24 and 68.
