I started playing the drumset at age 12, and have been playing for 20 years, and teaching for 5 years. My drum playing covers many different styles including Rock, Jazz, Funk, Punk, and my favorite, Progressive Rock. Soon after I started playing drums, I played in my high school jazz band, orchestra, and marching band. I have been playing ever since and still love it 'til this day. Some of my favorite drummers range from Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, Carter Beauford, Travis Barker to Neil Peart. People have told me that I am my biggest critic, and therefore, I am always trying to find ways to improve and reinvent my style and approach to playing and teaching drums. My success in training, developing, and managing people in the business world has translated to success in teaching and coaching my current students. Because I started to learn to play drums at an early age, I have a very good pulse on what type of teaching young students need to be successful. With that said, learning to play drums with me will be fun whether you are a beginner, hobbyist, or a serious drummer studying for NYSSMA. *** Lesson Details *** I am somewhat of a laid back instructor, however, I take teaching drums seriously and aim to make my students happy while bringing out the best they can be. You will have fun learning drums with me, and after the first several months, you will be reading music and making exciting progress. I like to teach all levels of drummers, and watch their abilities and talent unfold as they grow with playing their instrument. We will start with the basics, build solid foundations, and eventually progress to advanced drumming.
