Classical Piano with Jon F.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jon begged his parents for piano lessons in preschool; they agreed, as soon as he could show that he was able to sit still for a half hour. Twenty eight years later, the piano is still the central figure in his life. Jon was on the classical track, playing Carnegie Hall in several competition winners' recitals starting at the age of 10, but at the age of 15, he had to choose between "going pro" and going to high school. High school won out, and with that choice, Jon's horizons broadened to include pop music and musical theatre. He graduated from Vassar College with a degree in vocal performance, and beginning in 2013, worked as an accompanist and music teacher at a Catholic school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. When not teaching, Jon is an accomplished singer-songwriter with several albums to his name: the most recent, The Art of Denial, was released in 2018 and featured on several year-end best-of lists. More than any accomplishment, though, music has been the throughline of joy throughout Jon's life, and nearly three decades in, that shows no sign of changing.
