    About Johnny S.

    Johnny is a classical saxophonist, arranger, and private music teacher living in San Jose, California. He is currently a Graduate Music Assistant working towards a Master's in Music Performance at SJSU. Having performed for over 2000 children in K-12 schools since 2017, Johnny has a passion for music outreach. He frequently visits local public schools to give short concerts, usually for band classes and school assemblies. Throughout the year Johnny also performs in several solo and chamber music recitals throughout the Bay Area. During his undergraduate degree Johnny earned several music awards in classical solo and chamber music competitions, including the Grand Prize in Chamber Music at the 2018 Frances Walton Competition and First Place in the 2017 San Jose Music Study Club Competition. His quartet received an Honorable Mention in 2019 for The American Prize in Chamber Music and was also recently a winner of the 2020 Beverly Hills National Auditions.

    The North American Saxophone Alliance is an organization made up of individuals who share a common interest in the saxophone. Members include professional performers, university professors, public school teachers, students of all levels, and others who have an interest in the saxophone. In addition to the Alliance's emphasis on disseminating information concerning the saxophone, the organization also works to provide opportunities for its members to make music, fostering fellowship among saxophone enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.
