About John S.
With nearly a decade of lessons and training from flamenco and blues professors in college, I have refined my musical abilities chiefly suited for playing in group environments. While in England and Bangladesh I learned from many performers how to truly use music to express myself. As I have taught students throughout my travels, I learned how to use my understanding of music theory and song structure to instruct student how to learn guitar, not simply learn songs.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I want my students to have their own instrument and to purchase the book. I have music if they request to learn specific songs and a capo. I require each student have their own tuner and request them to have a music stand.
*** Specialties ***
Blues, performance, Guitar/singing. My style is one that gets students comfortable playing in front of crowds and small groups. I teach music theory in excess as well as the instrument to make the student fall in love with music. My goal is to make the student be able to play with others and improvise as well as nailing down performance style and ability to truly express themselves through music.
