Baroque Flute Basics!

Learn to play the Baroque Flute and explore all of the intriguing qualities of the instrument! These lessons would be great for a modern/classical flutist that is looking to study historical performance, or even someone wanting to start playing the traverso as a hobby. Students can expect to learn the basics of this instrument, how to make a good sound, how to play the entire range of the instrument, how to care for their instrument, and much more. This is a great way to learn baroque music on the instrument it was written for!

About John G.

Hello! I'm a college student pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance at the University of Missouri. I perform regularly in the University of Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra, the MU Opera, the University Wind Ensemble, and the MU Undergraduate Wind Quintet. In addition to this, I'm the President of the MO Flute Society. As a student, I mainly focus on the modern flute and standard repertoire, but I have other areas of interest- including new music, world music, and historical performance. I love to learn as much as I can about the flute and all of the interesting details about it and the music written for it. As an educator, I want to share that love of the flute with my students and hopefully help them develop a passion for the instrument as well. I believe that, regardless of experience level, the most important qualities a student can possess are the willingness to learn and an ambition for the future. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals!
