I've been a musician since 6, beginning with vocal training during elementary school & regularly performed at church and other school services in children's choir. I started piano at 9 years old and have never stopped. (I still remember the first song I feel in love with: "What a Wonderful World") I have 15 years of piano experience, of which includes two college degrees: an A.A in Piano from the Community College of Baltimore County & a B.S in Piano from Towson University. My teaching philosophy is modeled after the ideologies of Canadian pianist and author Alan Fraser, owner and operator of the Alan Fraser Institute. Feel free to view his free content on YouTube or on his website alanfraserinstitute.com. Alan's teachings focus on the complete awareness of your skeleton as it relates to the piano. (specifically the hand). This teaching approach awakens the innate structure and function of the hand; unlocking its true power by replacing tension and over-relaxation teachings (which plague main-stream piano instruction) with effective hand movement. This is what seperates my teaching style from 99% of all other keyboard teachers out there. My job: 1. To help you maintain healthy hand function for the rest of your life; never succumbing to pain while playing. 2. To show you how to produce the best sound in the correct way. 3. To give you the tools you need to be able to play any song or piece you want; at any speed; with perfect accuracy; endless energy; at any time. 4. All the while learning the songs you want to play! Regardless of age or experience, I'm able to distill these concepts into understandable advice for both adults and children alike; advice that will leave you with a much better understanding of how your body (not just your hand) works at the piano. Musically Yours, -John
