Hey guys, my name is John C., and have been playing bass guitar for ten years. I attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated with a B.A. in Music, Summa Cum Laude. I have played in rock bands, ska bands, and in several jazz combos. During my musical career I have had a number of outstanding instructors that have made me realize the value of patience in teaching music. Accordingly, I am eager to work with students of all skill levels and experiences and seek to provide an individualized and high quality music making experience.
*** Lesson Details ***
As an instructor, I am very focused on providing lessons that are tailored to an individual student's abilities and goals. I like to emphasize proper technique, but not just for the sake of technique. I try to always put exercises in a musical context so that it is still going to be engaging, exciting, and never dull. My education has taught me the value of a strong theoretical background, so students can also expect to learn a fair amount about music theory. This aids in performance, memorization, and overall musical understanding. My goal at the end of every lesson is to have my students eager to go home and keep practicing.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the students to have an instrument and an amplifier.
*** Specialties ***
Primarily Jazz but I also have experience with Rock, Pop, and Ska
