    About Joe T.

Hi there! My name is Joe and I am a classically trained performer and teacher based in Minnesota. I have been teaching professionally for over ten years and tailor each lesson to the skills and learning needs of every individual student. My current studio ranges from children in Pre-K to retirees. I’m confident that everyone can learn to make music when given the tools that work for them. As a conservatory trained musician, I love teaching advanced students. As the son of K-12 educators, I love the spark of excitement that comes with beginners learning for the first time. Wherever you are in your musical journey, let’s figure out what works best for YOU. Apart from being a teacher, I work as the Director of Music & Worship at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Shoreview, MN and am the Artistic Director of Skål Chamber Collective in St Paul. Prior to this, I worked for five years in radio broadcasting as the Associate Producer for American Public Media's nationally broadcast Pipedreams program. I was also the curator of Minnesota Public Radio’s Pop Up Classical series which brought live classical performances all across the state of Minnesota. I am an active performer, teacher, and clinician in the Twin Cities metro love to make music wherever I go! Amidst everything I do, it’s my private studio of students that make such an important impact on my daily life. It’s so fun for me to connect one-to-one as we explore music and learning in relaxed, and personally tailored atmosphere. I hold a Master's of Music Degree in Organ Performance & Literature from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY where I was the recipient of the James B. Cochran award for excellence in performance. Prior to that, I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where I studied organ, cello and conducting and was the first student in Concordia's history to be awarded the prestigious Senior Honors award and orchestral appearance on two instruments (cello and organ).
