Master the Violin with an Experienced Teacher, Suzuki Certified!

Welcome to my fiddle lesson course! As a Suzuki certified instructor with a degree in music theory and composition, I'm excited to guide tardy students in their journey to learn this vibrant and spirited instrument. Whether you're new to fiddle or have some experience, I'm here to help you develop the necessary skills and techniques while exploring the rich world of fiddle style music. First, let's address a common misconception: the fiddle and the violin are essentially the same instrument! The main difference lies in the style of music played and the techniques employed. The foundational skills required for both the violin and the fiddle are largely the same. In this course, we will focus on building a strong technical foundation and understanding of music theory, which will be applied specifically to playing fiddle style music. Teaching practice strategies and habits will be an integral part of our journey together. Regular and consistent practice is key to progress, and I will provide you with effective practice techniques tailored to fiddle playing. We'll break down challenging passages, work on bowing techniques specific to fiddle style, and explore various ornaments and rhythmic patterns that give fiddle music its unique character. I will guide you in developing a solid sense of timing, groove, and improvisation, allowing you to express your own musical personality through fiddle tunes. While we delve into fiddle style music, we'll also touch upon a variety of genres such as bluegrass, Celtic, old-time, and more. We'll explore different bowing techniques, slurs, double stops, and other stylistic elements that bring fiddle tunes to life. Alongside technical skills, we'll discuss the history and cultural significance of fiddle music, deepening your understanding and appreciation for this rich tradition. I believe in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where you can freely explore and experiment with your fiddle playing. I'll provide personalized guidance and constructive feedback to help you improve and grow as a fiddler. I'll also encourage you to participate in fiddle jam sessions and performances to develop your confidence and stage presence. Join me on this exciting journey of fiddle playing, where we'll combine the foundations of violin technique with the spirited and lively world of fiddle music. Together, we'll embrace the joy and energy of fiddle style, allowing you to express your unique musical voice. Note: If you have any specific goals or preferences regarding fiddle styles or tunes, please feel free to share them, and I'll tailor the course to suit your needs and interests.

    Experience

    Music Teacher

    Oct, 2012 - Apr, 2014

    Piano Keys 4 Kids

I was a Piano Instructor in an after-school program specifically catering to K-3rd grade students. In this role, my primary responsibility was to deliver engaging and interactive piano classes to young learners. I developed age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum that aligned with the program's objectives, ensuring that students received a well-rounded musical education. Through interactive activities, I introduced music theory concepts and piano techniques, making the learning process enjoyable and accessible for the students. Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment was of utmost importance to me, as I wanted to foster a nurturing space where students could grow and express themselves musically. I closely monitored each student's progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them improve and develop their skills. Collaboration with parents and program coordinators was key, as I maintained open lines of communication to keep them informed about their child's progress and address any concerns. To celebrate the accomplishments of my students and boost their confidence, I organized recitals where they could showcase their musical achievements. Additionally, I fulfilled administrative tasks such as record-keeping and staying updated with teaching techniques through professional development workshops. My time as a Piano Instructor in this after-school program allowed me to witness the joy of young students discovering the beauty of music and developing their musical abilities.
