I have over 30 years experience as a professional guitar instructor and have been actively teaching lessons in Henry County, GA as well as Clayton County, GA. I had actually started teaching friends as a teenager since 1976 where I grew up in N.Y. and those friends still play guitar to this day, a couple have become professional musicians. I started teaching guitar professional in 1983. Over the years I've had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of students at every skill level.
I teach several styles of playing: Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country, Funk, Rhythm & Lead guitar playing, Classical guitar and Fingerstyle playing. I teach on electric & acoustic guitar.
I have one basic philosophy in my approach to teaching: get the student to fall in love with the guitar so it becomes a life-long passion. As an instructor, I endeavor to make guitar lessons fun, practical and productive!!! Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, advanced or even at the professional level, I can help you advance your playing skills.
Since 2009, I began teaching out of my home studio to expand my business as an instructor into the McDonough area of Henry County. This would include being able to be closer to prospective students coming from Jonesboro, Locust Grove, and even Conyers. This has given me the ability to utilize more teaching tools that are readily available in my home studio for the benefit of my students. The large majority of my students are at this location.
I'm one of two guitar instructors at this location. The other instructor was a former student. I still teach at this location but mostly teach out of my home studio in McDonough, GA.
Over the years I've performed in dozens of bands and performed as a Jazz Soloist in NY, CA, FL, and in GA. I've performed in Jazz big bands, jazz trio's/duo's, a Latin jazz group featuring one of Santana's former percussionists, Prog-Rock bands, Jazz-Rock Fusion bands, Top 40 Bands, a 50's/60's Show band, Country Bands, Disco Bands, Blues Projects, Classic Rock bands, Southern Rock Bands, Contemporary Christian Bands, Church Ensembles, and also as a studio session player.
I was the most experienced guitar instructor at this location until they closed their operations.
I was the primary guitar instructor at this location for many years.
· Guitar · In studio Great first lesson
· Guitar · In studio I've had a wonderful experience with Jim, and plan on continuing my weekly lessons with him. His methodology is logical and straightforward, his personality is open-minded, affable, and he's quite the prodigy when it comes to his skill level on guitar. He can fluidly change from a bluesy twang to a warm jazz sound, and switch to a nostalgic riff on the acoustic guitar at a moment's notice. He is everything I could ask for in a teacher, and in the short month that I've been taught by him, my learning curve has steepened with every visit. I'm learning so much from this guy and recommend anyone with an interest in guitar to pursue taking lessons from this guy before everyone else with the right idea books him first!
