    About Jimmy A.

I believe that any student may excel at any subject given the right tools and guidance. I also believe tutoring can be an essential part of this educational process. With this level of importance, I hold high standards for the students and myself and my method of tutoring directly reflects these beliefs. My method is geared towards understanding of the material, rather than just rote completion of homework. The ultimate tutoring situation is one in which I can not only provide information to the students, but also resources in which they may find their own information to further their own educational growth and development. I am easy-going, good-natured, and patient. Once we begin recurring lessons, I will work with student's current abilities and materials ( notes, homework, or course materials). I will also bring to the table my own tools and experience. We (as a teacher/student team) are then able to move through various levels of material at a pace appropriate for that individual student. I can assist you to meet your music goals and help inspire you to learn as we link your prior knowledge to new information and understanding. It is truly exciting to teach and guide students as they go from nervous and concerned, to relaxed and confident for performances and audition days. Feedback for the student will be frequent and used for further instruction. I also ask for feedback on my instruction from the parent and the student so that I can ensure my tutoring is always highly effective and fun. I am excited to hear from you and look forward to helping you achieve success!

    Texas Music Educators Association

    Aug, 2005

Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. On behalf of its members and Texas schoolchildren, TMEA carefully monitors the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction in Texas. In addition to many member benefits, TMEA offers professional development opportunities for its members with Region workshops and especially with its annual Clinic/Convention. TMEA supports the future of music education by offering scholarships to music education majors and by sponsoring the Texas Future Music Educators, an organization through which high school students interested in careers in music education learn more about what to expect in their college education and future careers.
