Discover your potential from the very young beginners and those returning to piano

I have been teaching young children for many years and will take beginning piano students as young as 5 years old. While I was a public school music teacher, I used Orff-Shulwerk strategies for teaching music. This approach to music teaching and learning is appropriate for preschool through middle school grades. These strategies are based on the way children learn: sing, chant, clap, dance and keep a beat on anything near at hand.

About Jill M.

I have been a professional musician for over 40 years and have taught beginning piano and oboe privately and in group classes. I am fully vaccinated and boosted. Students who are vaccinated are allowed in my studio without masks, and with masks if they have not been vaccinated. Upon entering my studio you will be required to remove shoes and clean hands. Your lessons should be fun, exciting, and challenging so I will teach to your abilities. I use music apps and games that keep students interested for longer than just sitting at the piano ( off-bench activities). I believe that all children are inherently musical and the study of music can help a student in all aspects of their life, not just music. *** Studio Equipment *** In addition to the standard music stands, metronome, tuners and music, I have digital recording equipment for student's audition recordings. I have helped college bound students get into serious music programs like Arizona State University and the University of Arizona. For students ages 5 to 9 years old, I recommend the recorder as a introductory woodwind before learning the oboe.

Jill was fantastic and knew piano as well as any instructor. Her experience was off the charts. I would recommend Take Lessons to anyone wanting to learn an instrument!

My daughter had a very great experience learning the oboe online, and she is an awesome teacher! My daughter mentioned no more than one time she really like Jill, but her intensive studying do not allow her spend hours lots on practice. We are strong recommend Jill

I apply the Orff-Shulwerk process to teaching any instrument and use it for all levels. It is based on things children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance, and keep a beat on anything near at hand. These instincts are directed into learning music by hearing and making music first. then reading and writing later.
