The most effective lessons are tailored to you: your interests, your abilities, and your goals. While I am classically trained, I embrace a versatile teaching style. I've been told that I have a gentle presence, and a soothing approach. My specialization is in establishing strong, healthy piano technique in beginners, and rehabilitation for those students who never received a foundation in technique to begin with. Better technique means better performance, and also opens doors to more exciting repertoire.

I've been teaching for over 20 years. I am a member of MTNA, OMTA, and OMTA East, actively pursue new pedagogical research, advocate for PASK, and collaborate with living composers and music publishers. I have adjudicated, presented, and chaired events as a member of the TMTA. In addition, I have devoted time to working in diverse arenas to enhance accessibility of music, including a music group for stroke patients. My students have premiered the works of contemporary composers, performed beautifully in adjudicated events, learn to speak music conversationally and naturally. I studied flute and piano from a young age, continued to study piano performance in college, and performed Dizi (Chinese woodflute) with Summer Thunder and piano with the Giocoso Trio in Tucson, AZ.

Jessica is amazing! Her love of music is obvious, and infectious. She's also incredibly patient, and tailors her lessons to her students' ability. I swear I'm practically tone deaf, but I've learned so much more under her than my previous teachers!
