As a cellist with 18 years of playing experience and 5+ years of teaching I have learned that music can change your life at any age and even can help you heal from whatever struggles life throws at you. Music and learning an instrument can improve your brain functions in a way that no other activity can accomplish. I am so passionate about teaching and customize my teaching style to each student individually because the same approach does not work for everyone. I strongly believe in that and try to get to know my students, who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how I can help to overcome those. I get very involved with my students and build a personal relationship with each one of them to further help them with cello. I've had some wonderful instructors myself including Amir Eldan and Hans Jensen who taught me not only how to play the instrument itself but also how to use those skills that come with being a musician in life.
In my lessons I focus on everything from music theory, ear training, sight reading and technique to learning about classical music, musicality, and making the piece your own. I also keep it light, fun and motivating to avoid the student feeling like they can't overcome something and give up.
I absolutely love what I do and would love teach you some cello at whatever level you are ! :)

About Jessica B.

I am a professional cellist who graduated from Oberlin Music Conservatory in 2016 with Bachelor of Music Performance. Since then I have been playing and teaching cello both privately and in high/middle schools. I teach people of all ages from 7 year olds to 85. I get so much joy from my students' accomplishments and personal growth.
I was raised in Poland and that is where I started playing cello, and later violin and piano as well. In 2008 I moved to USA to pursue my music education. I am also interested in music therapy and healing through music and making it accessible to everyone. My hobbies include riding a bike, swimming , zumba and musical theater!
You can take lessons with me at the comfort of your own home and get better at cello in no time!

Jessica is a wonderful teacher! She knows how to meet the learning needs of every student. She is patient and fun, yet demands that her students improve. I highly recommend her for any level of student. I have seen her work with beginners and advanced students. They all love her and learn so much from working with her.

Jessica gives really good lessons! Over the past year, I've improved a LOT with intonation, shifting, and posture, which I most certainly wouldn't have done without her help. She's really patient and makes lessons enjoyable with her chill, fun personality, yet makes sure you don't slack off. Although I haven't had any other cello teachers to compare her to, she definitely has raised my standards for any I might have in the future.

I love having a lesson with Jessica. She's, lively, informative, helpful and can always come up with a way to correct an old habit and improve my ability to play the cello.

Jessica is a very good cello teacher. Her meticulous teaching really helped me to sharpen my intonation and finger techniques. Although I only had half a period to learn from her, it was a productive learning experience every minute. Ever since the end of 8th grade I had no cello teacher and it was hard for me to find a new one, however soon I found out that my high school had a cello teacher totally ready for me. When I started taking lessons from her, I found myself learning much more than I would in a regular orchestra. If you're looking for someone to help you sharpen your cello skills, Jessica is the right teacher for you.

Jessica is by far the best Cello teacher I’ve ever taken lessons from. When I first began with my lessons I was admittedly terrible in many aspects, and couldn’t even hold a bow correctly. However, over just a few years I improved drastically. I now have managed to earn a place in the higher level of my school orchestra, a feat I never could’ve accomplished before I started taking lessons.
I cannot properly express just how much of a help Jessica is to those who want to learn cello and would recommend her any day.

Jessica is an awesome teacher and a great role model! I love working on the cello with her since it is easy for me to pick up the techniques she teaches me. Because she has so much experience playing cello from a young age, Jessica always comes into each session with more new tasks for me to work on. I love having lessons with her because you quickly build a strong bond. Honestly, it has never been a dull moment with Jessica and her bubbly personality. She is the best I’ve ever had!

Jessica was patient, kind, and completely fun to be around. She also didn't let my son get away with bad form. Way to go, Jessica! She's coming back until she's sick of us!

I have taken lessons with Jessica my junior and senior years of high school.
I am most grateful that Jessica has helped me become more confident in my playing. She truly understands the cello and cellists in holistic ways, examining a student's playing through body language, patterns of playing, sound, and vocal interactions. Her musical knowledge is vast. Jessica is experienced in the piano, violin, cello and has arranged music. She has worked with various quartets and age groups. She has exercises that are perfect for any level of experience, whether it is beginner fifth graders or advanced high school seniors. Lessons with Jessica are fulfilling, fun, and challenging. She will push a student past what his perceived limits are because she knows his potential. I strongly recommend taking lessons with Jessica if you're a cellist looking to advance your skill and musicianship.

I am a 69 year old who wanted to learn the violin. I had no musical experiences when I began my lessons with Jessica. I found her to be the best. She was extremely knowledgeable about string instruments . She also knew what I needed to work on and when. I highly recommend her as a teacher!!

Jessica is an excellent instructor and cellist. She has an engaging personality and a creative mind, e.g., explaining concepts several different ways until the student understands. I started new to cello and enjoy lessons, which include technique, theory and individual pieces (separate from the instruction books) that are challenging but fun, satisfying my desire to play familiar classical pieces. I have recommended her to several friends for cello and violin.

Jessica is very laid back. She makes the students feel comfortable and not awkward. She is open and accepting. She teaches at a very nice pace and knows how to improve students in the areas that they need to succeed. She finds opportunities for students to try to go forward for improvement. Overall, she is a great teacher.
