    About Joe Y.

    Originally from the Bay Area, Joe currently lives and performs in NYC, and has studied legendary guitarists such as John Abercrombie, and drummer Steve Gadd. In 2004, Joe won a Downbeat Award for outstanding jazz instrumental group. Since coming to New York he has maintained an active performing schedule and has played in various venues such as the Knitting Factory (nyc), the 55bar (nyc), Monterey Jazz Festival (CA), the Mendocino Jazz Festival, South By Southwest festival in Austin, along with many others. He is currently working on his Bachelors degree at City College of New York. Joe is currently a guitar instructor at the Soundwall Summer Music Camp in Santa Cruz, CA, and has taught hundreds of students privately over the last five years *** Lesson Details *** Students can expect a positive and uplifting experience from each lesson. Lessons are geared toward the student's personal goals--whether it be learning basic songs on the radio or learning to boost their rock chops. However, around personal aims, the lessons will incorporate music theory, rhythmic studies, and some music notation reading as these are key to any developing musician.
