I've been drumming for over 25 years and I'm STILL obsessed! I've played in all sorts of bands--rock, folk, jam, reggae, fusion, jazz, Irish-rock--in venues ranging from small corner pubs to large festivals and arenas. I spent the last 4 years playing full-time in Key West, Florida, averaging over 300 shows per year. When I'm not home practicing, you can find me at one of Chicago's many awesome venues, checking out new drummers. I STILL love learning new grooves, fills, songs, and playing with new bands. For me, drumming is a kind of meditation, a sanctuary from the chaos of the world and its myriad obligations. I'm equally passionate about sharing my experience with interested students. Providing a laid-back, judgment-free learning environment is my number-one priority. My very first drum teacher was the OPPOSITE of nurturing, so I've made it my life's goal to treat each and every student with love and compassion. I also put tremendous emphasis on letting the student guide the lesson process. My job is to help you learn whatever you want to learn. I will, from time to time, nudge you, but always in a positive direction. I also feel strongly about exposing students to new music, and encouraging you and your parents to join me for weekend listening sessions at local clubs and theaters! Let's get together and jam!
