Feels pretty great right?! 🎸Learning to play an instrument is one of life's most rewarding endeavors, that just keeps getting better the longer you pursue it. With playing an instrument, you always have something you love to do and look forward to doing every single day, enriching your life and those around you. YOUR LEARNING JOURNEY: Whether you want to learn your favorite songs, improve your chops or all-out shred, your lessons are designed to get your playing where you want it to be. ✅Just starting out? No problem! Your lesson plan will be custom-tailored to your ability and geared toward your goals as a guitarist. For beginners that means instilling good habits from the beginning while learning songs that you love. ✅Have you been playing a little while and can't seem to get any "better?" I've been there! Oh how I've been there :) There comes a time in everyone's playing journey when we hit a roadblock and our playing seems to plateau. This is where having an experienced set of eyes (and ears!) check out what may be happening with your playing and get you unstuck as soon as possible. ✅Am I too old to get started? NO! Absolutely no way! Never!!! As a 38 year old musician in a rock band, constantly playing with bands comprised of college kids, I completely understand. The voices pop in my head saying, "Am I too old? Should I hang it up? This is a young person's game, etc..." 💪Age isn't just a number, it's an advantage! I have students of all ages and skill levels, some of fastest learning and fastest progressing didn't start until they were over 50. You can do this and I'd love to show you how. A LITTLE ABOUT ME: For me, learning to play guitar and bass has been life-changing. Having such a powerful creative outlet provides endless inspiration and curiosity, not only while playing, but carries over into real world and everything I do. My guitar playing began when my best friend, "Soup," showed me how to play "Big Gun," by the mighty AC/DC. I sat there for 3 hours, patiently plucking the strings until that glorious riff came screaming out of the amplifier! I was hooked immediately, begging my parents for a guitar and then practicing every chance I got, learning Led Zeppelin riffs, CCR chords and Jimi Hendrix jams. After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to pursue a BA in Music and Recording Technology, expanding my mostly rock and metal guitar playing by focusing on Classical guitar. While earning my BA in Music, I began teaching guitar at the local music store, at first for extra cash to buy more guitar gear, but quickly became passionate about teaching. I feel privileged to be able to pass along my musical knowledge and honored that you consider my tutelage. It is my aim to be an enthusiastic and understanding educator, to provide guidance and motivation, to offer advice as you progress along your playing journey. Your personalized lesson plan will be made up of the following concepts: Technique - You will learn proper playing technique to ensure accurate playing as well as an injury-free career. The Fretboard - Learn notes, scales, arpeggios and know your way around your instrument. Harmony - Learn how to play chords, how to write music using chords, chord inversions and more. Musicianship - Music theory, improvisation, songwriting, sight- reading, and how to jam with other musicians. Your success as a musician is my main priority and I will do my absolute best to guide you along your path.
