Hi! My name is Jeff and I have been playing guitar for 18 years, from classical to jazz, blues, rock, funk, gospel, pop, classical etc. I have played for weddings (ex. Kristin Vietch from the E! network), churches, school show choirs, orchestras, jazz bands, acoustic singer/songwriter, and in rock bands. I have been helping people write songs, instrumentally, for 10 years. I can also teach about recording and live sound and performance (effects, stage gear, etc.) In college, I played with many famous jazz artists such as Bob Magnusson, Bobby Shew, Frank Mantooth, Cyrus Chestnut, Charles McPherson and others! All of these people have been great influences in how I act professionally as a musician. The band that I was most recently in played at great venues and festivals such as the Adam's Avenue Festival and The House of Blues bar area.
I started out as a regular bedroom-guitar player, learning all of my favorite songs by listening to recordings and printing out tabs. Then towards the end of my high school years, I started taking lessons in theory, classical and jazz guitar. I continued studying these disciplines in college, while playing in a jazz band. The whole time I was studying classical and jazz, I was still practicing to my favorite rock bands too :) After college, I got into soul jazz, funk, blues and gospel music by playing with a world-class Hammond B3 player who has played with Tower of Power and several famous jazz artists. In my most recent band, the Midwinters, I experimented with using many of my guitar effects - I know a lot about effects, power supplies, boards and stage gear. I also know a lot about tube amps and repair as well.
Let me know if you have any questions about me or my background in music!
