    About JEFF H.

Professor Berklee College of Music, D'Addario Performing Artist, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Affiliated Artist, and Harvard University MLSP Instructor, offering state-of-the-art instruction online and in the Newton and Boston areas. I teach all levels, styles and aspects of saxophone – from beginner to professional. I also teach improvisation for all instruments For beginners I emphasize the basics such as tone production, technique, reading, playing by ear, improvisation and just having fun with it all. For improvisation, I start with blues scales and major scales while establishing a solid foundation of chords and modes, and building from there. For intermediate to advanced students, I stress various techniques and exercises which help you to play over chord changes with rhythmic accuracy and without getting lost - taking the mystery out of improvisation. I have carefully developed these proven methods over many years of teaching, performing, research and study. I'm an active performer, recording artist and clinician and have performed in the US, Europe, the Caribbean & Asia. My books include: Blues Improvisation Complete (Hal Leonard); Famous Saxophone Solos from R&B, Pop and Smooth Jazz (Hal Leonard); Essential Solos On Standard Progressions (Advance Music); Great Tenor Saxophone Solos, Vol. 1 & 2; Great Smooth Jazz, R&B, and Pop Tenor Saxophone Solos; Written Solos On Standard Tunes. M.M. New England Conservatory of Music B.M. Berklee College of Music Alumnus of the following: The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University Manhattan School of Music Bennington College
