Southern California native. Professional drummer. I did my Bachelor's in Music in Jazz drums at BYU and my Master's in Music in Jazz Studies at Indiana University with world-renown drum educator Steve Houghton. I currently tour with David Archuleta (American Idol), Ryan Innes (The Voice), and other professional working bands. My drumming has been heard on FX "Sons of Anarchy," MTV, ABC Family, and Buzzfeed viral videos. I have toured and performed in Aruba, Dominican Republic, Peru, Canada, Brazil, France, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Italy, and throughout the United States.

I like to adapt my lessons to each student's goals. Whether you're a trying to audition for jazz band in school or you just bought a drum set and are looking to to set it up and play, I can help. I've taught young kids who I helped join school of rock groups to students who have auditioned for major college music programs.

I took drum lessons from Jay in 2015. Though it was only for a few months, he helped me on my path to where I want to be as a drummer. He inspires and has a great ear. I recommend him as a teacher and even more as a performer.

Jay has been my Drum teacher since August. He is an incredible and proficient drummer, and an exceptional teacher. He helped me in preparation for music school. He catered to my needs as a drummer and was able to understand where I was and help me improve. We started with my goals and hopes for where I wanted to be and he helped me to achieve all of them. I would recommend Jay as an instructor for anyone, especially those who feel they may be advanced already and want to really step it up to the next level.

I’ve taken lessons from almost 10 different instructors throughout my life. Jay is easily the instructor who helped me the most. He was able to break down critical concepts and help me apply them to my playing in ways that were relevant. My playing improved more while I was taking lessons than it did at any other point in my career. Great drummer, great teacher, and a great guy.
