Country Guitar with Jason D.

Hello! I'm Jason Dollar, a family man, pastor, teacher, musician, and author from central Alabama. As a family man, I'm married to Page, and we have five kids ranging in age from 8 to 20. As a pastor, I lead Rock Mountain Lakes Baptist Church near Birmingham. I've been serving this congregation since 2009. As a teacher, I taught for five years in a Christian high school, and I continue to teach ESL classes online for students from elementary to high school. As a musician, I've played instruments regularly since I was in the sixth grade (1986 or so). I play guitar, piano, bass guitar, and trumpet. I've participated in and led worship bands on many occasions. Even though I'm the pastor of my church, I also participate in our worship band weekly. It's a bit unusual for a pastor to be involved in music leadership, but I love music and can't help myself! Creating music, especially with other people, is a soul-enriching activity. As an author, I've written or edited seven books, including a popular updated version of Jonathan Edwards' well-known work The End for Which God Created the World. I'm also interested in other academic subjects (like history and philosophy), and I love to watch baseball. As a guitar instructor, I am primarily interested in seeing my students develop their understanding of the instrument and show real progress in growing their skill level. Students can expect to be challenged, but we will also have a great time together. I love working with people and seeing them develop. Learning to play an instrument is one of the keys to human thriving and happiness. It's a thrill to be a part of another person's growth and development. When I teach, I'm primarily interested in you, the student.
