About Jarred G.

Jarred Garneau started playing guitar at 13 years old. Initially inspired by mainstream rock bands that peak most young guitarists interest, Jarred wanted to pick up a real guitar instead of opting for Guitar Hero like most kids his age at the time. After starting private guitar lessons and revealing natural talent, Jarred started branching off into different genres. In high school, he joined the Jazz Band, which came in 2nd place in the state competition.

Jarred's guitar playing only picked up after high school. He played as much as he could and built his name in the New Hampshire and Southern Maine music community, joining any local jam sessions he could find. He further explored his advanced style of blues playing after being re-inspired by the old blues masters (particularly the slide playing of Duane Allman) and formed his first band in 2015, The Freestones. His bands have played popular local venues including The Press Room, The Stone Church, as well as local festivals.

Jarred formed his latest group, The Ferret Brothers, a group that pays homage to Django Reinhardt, in 2018. He also currently studies with Dani Rabin, and is attending the prestigious Berklee College of Music for his Bachelor's in Music Performance for Guitar.

As much as Jarred likes to play and continue his own music education, what he enjoys even more is teaching the gift of guitar playing to others. Now, with years of experience under his belt, he specializes in teaching genres rock, country, alternative, blues, jazz, funk, soul and folk. He also teaches all ages and skill levels, acoustic and electric. Whether you're brand new or trying to brush up on performance playing, Jarred has you covered. If you can't make a local lesson he offers online lessons. His online guitar lessons and have been well-received by students during the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing.

Jarred is amazing. I am a beginner and he has the patience of Job. I started literally at never having touched a guitar. I highly recommend him for any level.

I have worked with Jarred for several years, not only is he a talented player but he is very knowledgeable about many different aspects of music inlcuding theory and reading. He helped me teach a class at an adult center and showed a real ability to patiently help students throughout their lesson time. I would highly recommend!

Jarred is skilled and enthusiastic performer who understands the value of good teaching. He can provide a student with material and inspiration to learn and progress in their desired musical style because he's played them all--blues, rock, jazz... and can teach improvisation techniques in any of these genres.

Jarred is hands down the best guitar teacher you could ask for. As I am a working adult and it’s tough to take the time to learn new things, Jarred takes each lesson at my pace. He also makes sure I am pushing myself week to week so I’m not going too slow either. Other guitar teachers have discouraged me from playing as they have a hard time explaining where to start and get the confidence to keep at it (some are even more interested in showing you their skills instead of teaching you). Jarred is the exact opposite of that. He took time to understand what I wanted to learn and focused on improving my struggles in a way that built my confidence instead of bringing back any past discouraging memories. Instead of quitting again, I now look forward to playing guitar and after a month and a half can play a good chunk of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. This is your guy if you really want to learn how to play!

I can’t say enough how happy I am to have Jarred giving lessons to my 10 year old son. Jarred is an amazing teacher who is so knowledgeable, patient, and a wonderful teacher! My son looks forward to Jarred coming every week and has made leaps and bounds since starting lessons not too long ago. Jarred comes well prepared and organized to the lessons, and I am amazed at how far my son has come. I can’t recommend Jarred enough!
