I love to use mnemonics and rhymes as a tool in learning, especially in the beginning. I stress lots of practice but lots of fun. I ensure my students understand that they will reach their goals if they trust in the process. I use a tender touch approach as oppose to tough love because that's what always worked best for me.
I received training in classical piano and clarinet, as well as music theory over a period of 11 years, and performed and perfected my skill for many more after that. I studied music theory and performance for both instruments at Florida International University.
*** Lesson Details ***
From week to week we begin each lesson with students playing what they practice and learned in the previous lesson. I use the Alfred's Piano Library as a basic course for beginners through the intermediate level. I supplement the course with theory from different sources. I teach classical piano, as well as the building blocks for all styles. My methods are to assign sheet music as "homework" with notes on theory and how to approach each lesson when practicing. I have successfully taught many children and adults using this method.
*** Studio Equipment ***
My students (both kids and adults) play from there very first lesson. You will receive copies of music and lessons and there is no need to buy anything unless you want to have your own books. I use a weighted key keyboard in my apartment. There is plenty of seating for parents to sit in on lessons if they choose. Please see my pictures for more.
*** Specialties ***
Classical piano including renaissance, baroque and classical periods/styles. My methods are to assign sheet music as "homework" with notes on theory and how to approach each lesson when practicing. I provide the sheet music.

My daughter Julia, 9 years old, loves Ms. Janice. She's been taking lessons for one year. Not only have I seen improvement in her playing but in her confidence as well. Janice is great at being patient in guiding Julia and praising her efforts and successes. I am very happy with her teaching method.
