I am passionate about teaching the various styles of guitar to the young and old; beginner to advanced. Be it classical guitar, finger style, flat picking, blues, rock and rock, country, jazz played on acoustic or electric; I love it all. The process of learning is something I care very deeply about. I am always trying to improve the quality of my teaching. I want students to walk away from lessons with a life long passion for music and guitar or to help an adult student rekindle their teenage passion for guitar. *** Lesson Details *** Lesson Details: I try to find out what motivated that student to want to study guitar in the first place. I try to validate their interests in music even if it is not music I’m familiar with. I do this because I remember when I first started; my teachers did not listen to what I was listening to. My aim is to give them the basics that they will need to play. I find each student is different so I don’t try to do the same approach with each student. I teach all styles of guitar and electric bass. I teach individual and group lessons. I teach ensemble classes also. I incorporate singing a lot because in many guitar styles the guitarist is also singing. I will also sometimes incorporate the harmonica because of the value one can learn about “breathing” and the concept of developing good melodic playing on the guitar. I have also taught piano, theory and classes on song writing. About: Jim has been performing and playing the guitar throughout the Delaware Valley for over 30 years.
