Audition Prep with Isaiah P.

I knew from the time I was very young that I had to be a musician. It still amazes me how young children often are when they know that music is what they want do with their lives. Teaching the cello is so exciting for me because whether or not someone chooses to be a professional musician, I know the kind of companionship that a love of music and cello can provide. Encouraging this love of music is both my goal and my passion. Beginning music lessons at the age of five, music and the cello have been my lifelong companions, opening doors for me to travel across the world for tours, residencies, and festivals. Recent tours have seen me performing for a month in South Africa as well as a month-long stay in southern Vermont and tour of the South East. I perform in New York's major venues, including concerts at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, The Dimenna Center, and many others. I have had the privilege of learning from some of the foremost classical musicians today, including work with leading soloists, quartets, and principals of major orchestras through the course of my studies at the Meadows School of the Arts (Bachelor of Music) and Mannes School of Music (Masters of Music). In the little time when I am not playing or teaching the cello, I enjoy fly fishing, amateur astronomy, backpacking, and general enjoyment of the natural world. I am a curious-spirited person and bring my inquisitive nature to my musical pursuits and and teaching.
