I began my dance career at age 13 after watching the movie Strictly Ballroom. The glamor of Ballroom and Latin Dance enticed me as a young teenager and from my very first lesson, I knew that I had found my passion. I began competing shortly there after and spent next eight years as an amatuer honing my skills before I turned professional at age 22. My goals began to change a few years after competing professionally and I began to focus more on my students and their potential. However, I noticed some unwelcome changes to my body as my personal competitive career ended and that is when I first entertained the idea of adding fitness to my repertoire.
In a matter of a year, I had transformed my body into the best shape I had ever been in. I loved getting fit didn't mean spending endless, monotonous hours on a treadmill but instead could incorporate my love of dance and also, with my teaching background, help others get fit at the same time. Then two kids in under three years happened! With my first pregnancy, my body underwent a massive shift again in, I'm afraid, not a positive direction. It took a year but I lost all 54 lbs of baby weight I had put on, (yes, I ate too much!) only to become pregnant again! This time I did not gain nearly as much but am still recovering what I lost three years ago. As such, I really enjoy working with new moms or women who new or returning to fitness after time away. If you are looking for a drill sergeant, look elsewhere. My workouts are fun but challenging, energetic yet low key, and most of all positive and uplifting. I am available to teach group lessons or one on one sessions in person in Tempe, AZ or am able to to coach you online, My workouts are tailored to your specific needs and goals.
