Trained as a classical organist and jazz pianist, Greg studied music theory and composition at Duke University, and was tutored by Mary Lou Williams and former Thelonious Monk sideman Paul Jeffrey. Greg has won over 50 music competitions including the U.S. title in the prestigious Yamaha National Electone Festival, where he went on to earn the bronze medal at the International Competition in Hamburg, Germany. Greg has performed or recorded with an impressive array of jazz standouts including Louie Bellson, Michael Brecker, Mark Colby, Paul Jeffrey, Scott Hamilton, Brad Goode, Michael Manson, Geary Moore and Stephanie Nakasian. He has opened for Dizzy Gillespie, Ellis Marsalis, Marian McPartland, McCoy Tyner and Ben Vereen. Greg teaches students of all levels and abilities, from total beginner to highly advanced. He particularly enjoys helping advanced students acquire the skills they need to work as professional musicians.
