Hey there! I am VERY excited to help you get to your best potential through lots of flight hours as quickly as you like! I hope you'll pick me to help you avoid common set backs in your progress. I look forward to helping you be your best on your instrument!
Greg is a cutting edge multi instrumental musician, accomplished on electric bass, upright pizzicato bass, electric and acoustic guitar, drums, and vocals. He performs in a large variety of ensembles, combos, bands, and performs as a solo bassist. He has helped thousands of private students step into a life of music since his first student in 1989. Greg’s talent and ability have been recognized frequently. In 1994 he was one of ten finalists worldwide in Bass Player Magazine’s Billy Sheehan scholarship contest, that same year he became a key volunteer staff member at the annual Bozeman Bass Bash.
Greg has shared the bill and / or performed along side: Bob Babbitt, Victor Bailey, Jean Baudin, Jeff Berlin, Blondie, Suzy Bogguss, Brian Bromberg, Oteil Burbridge, Yves Carbone, Christopher “C3” Cardone, Anthony Cox, Billy Dickens, Emerson Drive, Sean Feucht, Foghat, Marc Grabowski, Wylie Gustafson, Carol Kaye, Geno Kreis, Rob Kohler, Michael Manring, Stewart Mckinsey, Darren Michaels, Brady Muckelroy, Vince Neil, Adam Nitti, Dave Pomeroy, Psycadelic Furs, Benny Reitveldt, Kelly Roberty, Rich Ross, Billy Sheehan, Russell Smith (of the Amazing Rhythm Aces), Norm Stockton, Randy Tico, Eddie Tsuru, Twisted Sister, Michael Tyrrell, Gerald Veasley, Trip Wamsley, Doug Wimbish And Neil Zaza.
Greg has been a professional musician and teacher both since 1989. During that time he has cultivated himself to be a teacher of other musicians and has gained vast knowledge and experience in sculpting others to meet their goals. This experience has made him knowledgeable of instruments, sound equipment and the workings of a music team as a whole. He has served as a worship team member at four churches. Currently Greg leads the worship arts dept at his home church, and continues to grow his heart and skill for worship leading. Running his own business and his developing marriage coaching skills will prove useful in the leadership and guidance of those he assists to improve their skills.
Greg’s goal is the building up of those around him in ways that they can understand. Being a strong teacher isn’t about being right; it is about leading in a way that others will follow you. Finding the way to teach a person the way they need to be taught is a skill Greg has developed through years of practice and listening to students.
WORSHIP TEAM EXPERIENCE
Several years working with worship teams at different levels has given Greg the opportunity to see them from many vantage points. These experiences have had him everywhere from leading worship to running sound and everything in between. Knowing that these areas are all important and must all come together to facilitate a congregation to worship is a strength Greg brings with him.
During Greg’s years as a musician he has picked up many skills that add quality to his leadership abilities. Not only is Greg skilled in playing the bass, vocals, guitar, and drums, but he is knowledgeable in the theory behind the music and can teach those around him to read and understand the music they are playing. He has also spent many hours putting together and running sound systems, so his knowledge goes beyond the stage and into the overall sound of the team. Having knowledge of CCLI and how the music industry works, Greg will use “pop sensibilities” to be able to best utilize and choose music that is pertinent and worshipful.

I took lessons from Greg for guitar some years ago and his methods really helped me understand music with the way he taught chord theory and such. It applied to literally every instrument I learned afterwards.
Greg also has a plenty of patience for his students and is really good at encouraging growth and understanding in his students. Sometimes I would come in with a song I wanted to learn that was way more advanced than I was at the time, but rather than say I couldn't play it or to wait until later, he would take that difficult song and help break it down into what I did know and we'd go from there and as I result I felt I learned quickly, as well as understood how to break down songs into their more basic elements which would become later on for when I wrote my own music or lead in bands.
All in all a great experience and I feel like I owe a lot of my musical ability to the lessons I took with Greg.
Very knowledgeable and patient. Fun to work with and a super nice guy! Stayed with him leaning multiple instruments I highly recommend him.
Knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Would recommend highly to anyone.
Had greg teaching me guitar in high school, one of the best teachers in Montana!
I was looking for someone to teach me how to play lead guitar. Greg provided needed educational aids to help. He helped me get an insight in what it could be and what I needed to do to get there. Unfortuanately, (or fortunately), my daughter was doing a guitar camp of Greg's and decided she wanted to learn more so I gave her the lessons. She has been taking lessons with Greg for quite a few years now and has accomplished more than I. She is better than I am now. A dad could not ask for more.+ Read More
I took lessons from Greg, as did my daughter. Both of us had very positive experiences. Greg is a talented player and teacher. The thing that impressed me most was how he connected with my daughter, an early elementary student at the time, and extremely shy. There weren’t many people outside her family she connected with easily, but she likes him so much that she asked him to accompany her on guitar when she sang for her school talent show — which he graciously did on his own time. Thanks, Greg!+ Read More
Had Greg Campbell has a bass teacher a few years back. A very knowledgeable, fun and cool teacher! Definitely would take lessons from him again in the future!
I loved having Greg as a teacher! He took extra time on things I stuggled with and constantly encouraged me. The best part was that he let me pick the learning content so it was always personal to me.
Greg is an amazing teacher! With years of playing experience he has the knowledge to teach anyone. He is patient and understanding which is great for all types of learners. I give him 5 stars because Greg is hands down always over the top!
Greg was an incredible guitar teacher for me, he consistently worked with me to make lessons that I would want to learn, and helped me find my own path in music. Often times teachers have a set curriculum and idea of how someone should progress through their learning, and I'm sure Greg did too but I was probably not the best student for that. I was so focused on wanting to be a song writer and also maybe not the most practiced student, but he'd work with me and come up with these lesson plans that revolved around learning new chords and progressions and then when we'd get to a point where I had a basic understanding of some of it we'd try writing a song with these new learned chords. It was very helpful and even if I wasn't making leaps and bounds of progress every week Greg helped me feel like I was. I can't thank him enough for the experience. I would recommend him to anybody that asked and if I still lived in Helena I'd definitely still go to Greg for lessons.+ Read More

Greg is a fantastic music teacher. He taught my teenage Son guitar lessons. They picked music Drew was interested in across a variety of types. Great experience!
Greg was and is one of the most talented guitar and bass players I’ve met. He’s able to explain and show easy ways to grasp the techniques to make a better player. I enjoyed the time during the lessons.
Hands down a great teacher. Very experienced, and knowledgable about anything you might want to learn. Great with all ages. He always finds a way to make lessons fun so you want to come to the next one every time.
Greg sold me my first acoustic guitar at 13 years old. It was a fender acoustic and I bought it with no knowledge and he pushed me towards an acoustic guitar he felt was quality and a great starter guitar. I taught myself for a couple of years and than my parents let me get guitar lessons When I was 16. I was really into heavy metal music, yet Greg made sure I knew the basics. His lessons were very individualized and made sure that when I was learning the basics that I knew what I was working towards. I remember one lesson he gave me a riff to work with, after I had it down he revealed to me that it was Miley's party in the USA. He showed me a song I wasn't interested in learning and taught me how I can make it into a genre that appealed to me. I told Greg that I was really interested In guitar upkeep and he taught me how he cleans guitars and does adjustments in his shop. Greg Campbell takes the time with his students and makes sure he his teaching them in what they are interested in, yet at the same time makes sure the basics are hammered home and are appreciated.+ Read More

Instructor was very patient and informative. I learned about rythm, timing and all kinds of good stuff. Excellent instructor.
Greg is very dynamic and a really fun teacher. He understands how to read our son’s musical ability and gear the lesson to him. He instructs and plays music with our son during lessons in a manner that seems very effective, and our son comes home after his lesson wanting to play more and wanting to practice to be able to play cool stuff with Greg in the next lesson. Our son definitely feels challenged every lesson. We feel very fortunate to have found Greg and look forward years of lessons to come, as playing music with Greg is one of our sons favorite things.+ Read More
Greg has been an incredible teacher and mentor to me over the years. He’s pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and be successful in every musical area I chose to pursue. Greg made valuable acoustic guitar and vocal lessons enjoyable and rewarding. I’ve seen him build up teams of inexperienced people to become well rounded and proficient musicians. Top instructor recommendation for pursing a musical passion.
You can use it wherever needed. Let me know if you need anything else or any adjustments.
Greg is a top-notch instructor. He is experienced in and can instruct in several instruments. He has great performance experience and he is knowledgeable in theory to competently teach to an advanced level. He is also kind, personable, and works great with children, adults, and even family groups! Our family thoroughly enjoyed taking guitar and ukulele lessons from Greg. We would still be doing so if we hadn't moved. Thanks Greg!+ Read More
I took guitar classes from Greg for about 8 years, bass lessons for about a year, and drum lessons for about a year, and eventually worked with him as an instructor as well; I'll let you know that you will be very hard-pressed to find a better teacher than Greg - he takes the time to really delve deep into all your lessons and give you the best experience, as well as wonderful material to work with, in order to help you fully reach your potential as a musician. On top of that, he really gets to know you and caters to your style of learning, and helps you recognize your strengths and weaknesses, overall making your learning experience the most fruitful it can be. I studied guitar lessons under Mr. Greg for a period of time before I had shoulder surgery. The lessons were very beneficial for me and he is a great instructor. He went out of his way to help me learn guitar with my dyslexia. He is very patient, understanding, and a great instructor. I would recommendhis gifted guitar lessons to anyone and I plan on returning for more lessons.
My son LOVED every second of his learning with Mr. Campbell! He couldn't wait to get there, and he couldn't wait to practice every day for hours until his next lesson. He learned so much and has come so far! I'm so appreciative of the jamming they did together and the way Mr. Campbell treated my son and our family with friendly respect. He is wonderful with kids and marvelous with music.+ Read More
Greg is the kind of teacher that has the skill & ability to set you up with a strong musical foundation to carry the weight of becoming whatever you desire in music.
He does this with a good balance of understanding that not all players want to be the same 80's rock god he trained to be. He knows how to talk/instruct to someone from any age or musical background without being condescending or pretending that he knows better than you as to what sound you want to be able to make.
He's very diverse! This is perhaps, personally, my favorite thing about Greg.
Music is about so much more than technique & theory, it's about style & artistry. This is an understanding & guidance that YouTube could never give me like Greg did.
Though he was the guy who helped me pick out my 1st guitar, he also helped me fill in the other areas in my musicality by instructing me in some bass & drums. This has been invaluable as a worship leader to communicate to all parts of the band. (Seriously, if you pay for lessons, pay a REAL musician like Greg, who can see the gaps you can't)
The only reason he's getting a 4 out of 5 is for the setting in which I was taught.
It began in a hard to find downstairs area of a multiplex building. Then the backroom of a music store where he was constantly needed to step out & assist with other things because the store was a start up business.
It was like 10yrs ago, & the locations & setting have likely changed.
Call me harsh for docking his rating, but I was paying my own way & felt really upset by parts of my lesson time being taking up for other things, or waiting outside a locked building when things should have started on time.
Greg is an amazing guitar teacher and I highly recommend his services!!
There is no finer teacher anywhere than Greg!
Having never played any instrument before , Greg took away any worries or anxiety I might have had. His patience and vast expertise with stringed instruments is truly amazing. Students learn at their own pace not the instructors. Greg has students making actual music very early in the process. Being able to actually play something right away is highly motivating and more importantly Fun !
Greg’s personality and his amazing talent makes it very easy to engage in the process . Having taken Bass Guitar lessons for several years with Greg , I can’t imagine what it might have been like with another teacher. Greg is an amazing instructor !
You won’t be disappointed!
