About Evan S.

Hello! I'm Evan, and I love to play and teach percussion! I studied percussion at The Juilliard School for my master's degree, University of Michigan for my bachelor's degree, and the Interlochen Arts Academy. I am Miami-based, and I regularly perform with New World Symphony, Nu Deco Ensemble, Conduit, and Miami City Ballet, and am Principal Percussion of the Florida Grand Opera and Palm Beach Symphonies. I enjoy working with students to help them reach their full potential in music, and in life. I use percussion as a vehicle to teach excellence, no matter what path the student ends up pursuing as a career. I have performed around the world in Europe, Africa, and North America in venues such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, the deYoung Museum in San Francisco, and Carnegie Hall. I have shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning musicians including members of the ensemble eighth blackbird, song-writer and organist Cory Henry, and vocalist Hila Plitmann. These experiences all inform my teaching style and the breadth of information I am able to share with my students.
